July 28, 2017 – The rains came and forced moving the Raleigh Pro League match from Brier Creek Country Club to the covered courts at Cary Tennis Park where there was plenty of excellent tennis action. Team White Dahlia took the win over Team Brier Creek Orthodontics 3-1 for their 2nd team win of the season and 8 points in the standings.
The Mixed court finished first with Team White Dahlia’s Kelly Riely and Marko Zivkovic winning over Val Dandik-Evans and Will Rollinson. Soon to follow was the Men’s #1 court as Team White Dahlia’s William Noblitt and Jon Davis won over IB Ilesamni and Jose Velazquez to give White Dahlia a 2-0 lead. The team match was secured on the Women’s court as former Wolfpacker’s Sandhya Nagaraj and Nena Montgomery came back from dropping the 1st set to win in a 3rd set tie-break over Team Brier Creek Ortho’s Tessie Choo and Kristen Kepler. Team Brier Creek Ortho won their only court of the night at the Men’s #2 spot as Brent Bennett and Gani Adelekan pulled out a close win in a 3rd set tiebreak over White Dahlia’s Jason Abhau and Doug Ormsby.
It was disappointing not to be able to play at Brier Creek Country Club because they are such a great host for Raleigh Pro League tennis, but we are thankful that Cary Tennis Park allows us to used their covered courts and get the match played when the weather just won’t cooperate.
