Team Pursuit Wealth Remains Undefeated and Team Wake Ortho Wins Big

July 22, 2022 – Blazing hot, huge crowd, good food & beverages, and some great tennis. That was the scene at North Hills Club as the Raleigh Pro League passed the halfway mark for the season. Team Pursuit Wealth remained undefeated with a thrilling Captain’s Choice Super-Tiebreak win against previously undefeated Team RDUTennis and defending champions Team Wake Ortho jumped in the standings with a 4-0 sweep of Team Mosquito Authority.

Team Wake Ortho came into their match with a 1 court advantage as Team Mosquito Authority had to default the Women’s court due to illness and injuries. Wake Ortho jumped to a 2-0 lead as Caitlin Whoriskey and Lilo Pelegrino won the Mixed court 6-3 6-0 over Mosquito Authority’s Jenny Green and Nick Camilleri. The 3rd court win for Wake Ortho was on the Men’s 2 court where Jason Kinder & Evan Stiegel played well and bested Mosquito Authority’s Brian Smith and Chris Fletcher 6-3 2-6 10-3. Wake Ortho completed the sweep as Jon Davis and Justin Roberson defeated Mosquito Authority’s Michael Ogden and Louis Rico 6-4 6-2 in a hard fought match. The sweep catapults Team Wake Ortho into 3rd place in the league standings with one less match played than the 1st and 2nd place teams.

In the other match, Team Pursuit Wealth jumped off to the points lead as the “French Connection” of Paul-Henri Arrigoni and Quentin Guichard won the Men’s 2 court over Team RDUTennis’ Gani Adelekan and Matt Nicholson 6-0 6-1. Team RDUTennis came back to take the team lead 2-1 as Meghan Coomes and Tessie Choo won the Women’s court over Pursuit Wealth’s Jessica Mauney and Nena Day 6-2 6-2 and Joanna Nalborska and Kyle Spencer won the Mixed court over Pursuit Wealth’s Heather Waters and Glen Kitner 6-2 6-3. All attention turned to the Men’s 1 court where one of the best matches of the season was taking place. Team RDUTennis’ Christian Welte and Dana Parziale won the 1st set 7-5 over Pursuit Wealth’s William Noblitt and Anu Kodali, but Noblitt/Kodali came back strong to take the 2nd set 6-1 and force a 3 set tiebreak. Noblitt/Kodali continued to play tough and won the tiebreak 10-7 to send the match into a Captain’s Choice Super-Tiebreak. Kodali teamed with Heather Waters for Pursuit Wealth and Team RDUTennis fielded Joanna Nalborska and Dana Parziale. It was a well played tiebreak going back and forth until Waters/Kodali stretched to a 9-6 lead. Nalborska/Parziale took the next 2 points to get it to 9-8, but the cards favored Team Pursuit Wealth with Kodali serving to take the deciding point giving Pursuit Wealth the team win and remaining undefeated for the season. The win stretched Team Pursuit Wealth’s advantage for 1st place in the league while Team RDUTennis remains in 2nd place.
